A 26-year-old man has died in a “major incident” near the site where Everton’s new football stadium is being built.
His death is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive as well as police officers who have been at the scene today.
It has been reported that the victim suffered severe head injuries, and the Liverpool Echo said he was taken to Aintree Hospital but died shortly afterwards. Police have not yet confirmed the nature of the injuries.
The paper reported that the incident involved “heavy machinery” and that workers at the site of the stadium had been asked to leave as the investigation unfolded.
