A man has died after slipping and falling into a canal in Oldham.
Emergency services raced to the Waters Edge in Greenfield at around 11.20pm yesterday after a passerby called police. The man was rushed to hospital but, despite the best efforts of paramedics, was sadly pronounced dead.
His next of kin have been informed. Greater Manchester Police confirmed it is investigating the incident.
A force spokesman said: “At around 11.20pm last night (Wednesday 23 August 2023), police received a call stating that a man had slipped and fell into a canal in Greenfield, Oldham.
