Rico Lewis marked his first Man City start with a goal as the teenage right-back enjoyed a night to remember at the Etihad as the hosts saw off Sevilla in the Champions League
Manchester City hailed a new starlet as teenager Rico Lewis marked his full debut with a stunning goal.
City boss Pep Guardiola handed 17-year-old Lewis a first start, the right-back responding with a cooly-taken second-half equaliser to justify his manager’s faith in him.
Lewis does not turn 18 until later this month, but played with a maturity that belied his age, his goal extending City’s unbeaten run at home in the Champions League to 23 games.
On a night when City’s supporting cast took centre stage, it was fitting Julian Alvarez, afforded a rare start in the absence of the injured Erling Haaland, plundered the late winner.
