Manchester City are set to replace Riyad Mahrez with Jeremy Doku – putting more doubt on Cole Palmer’s future as the winger continues to be linked with a move away
Manchester City have agreed a fee with Rennes to sign Jeremy Doku.
Pep Guardiola has been searching for a new winger following Riyad Mahrez’s departure last month. The Algerian left the treble winners to join Al-Ahli for £30million, ending his successful five-year stay at the Etihad Stadium.
During his time in Manchester, Mahrez won every major trophy available to him, scoring 78 goals in 236 appearances after his move from Leicester in 2018. Three weeks since Mahrez departed and City have finally found a replacement, with Rennes star Doku set to join Guardiola’s juggernauts for £55.5m.
The 21-year-old has not yet agreed personal terms but that is not expected to be an issue. Doku has less than two years left to run on his current Rennes deal and is set to sign a long-term contract at City, having netted 12 times in 91 games for the Ligue 1 side over the last three seasons.
