According to Australian media, the incident was reported to the school by a parent who witnessed the interaction between the man and the pupil - and when she was reported missing, a major police operation unfolded. The girl was found in distress at a nearby shopping centre with her hands bound with cable ties, reports Perth Now. Staff who helped the girl found her "crying" and "distressed" at the back entrance of the IGA in Port Kennedy, another suburb of Perth. She was then taken to Perth Children's Hospital for assessment, where specialist police are interviewing her to learn more about the incident. The suspect appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody without bail. He is next due in Rockingham Magistrates Court on Monday September 4, reports ABC News. According to WA Today, the girl was missing for an hour and during that time her mum posted to a local Facebook group asking others to "please help". Acting Detective Inspector Scott Johnson, from the sex crimes division of WA Police, commended the parent who first reported the alleged incident. He said: "That's probably one of the primary reasons that this resolved - a parent noticing that something wasn't right, seeing a child get into a car when they were almost at school and reporting it straight away - it's of utmost importance.
