The two Tennessee Titans back-ups battled it out against the Chicago Bears, with Malik Willis coming out on top against rookie Will Levis who struggled at Soldier Field
Will Levis made his first appearance for the Tennessee Titans on Saturday, but only after Malik Willis impressed after starting the game.
The Titans lost 23-17 to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, with the two young quarterbacks who are battling for the No. 2 position taking to the field. Ryan Tannehill was rested like most starting quarterbacks, but his position will soon be free as he’s entering the final year of his contract with the Titans.
It’s expected that either Willis or Levis will take over as QB1 in 2024, although their progression this upcoming season will determine whether the Titans look elsewhere. Head coach Mike Vrabel stated at the start of the offseason that Levis was No. 3 ahead of his rookie season, after being selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Willis was only drafted in 2022, and in the third round, but although he was initially favoured as No. 2 Vrabel allowed them to both have the opportunity to impress. On Saturday it was Willis that stood out, giving Levis a big challenge for the rest of pre-season.
