Making new mum friends can be a lifeline to first time mothers

The first few months of motherhood can be gruelling, boring and isolating. Even on the good days, you’re sleep-deprived while looking after a non-verbal, entirely vulnerable baby. The days are long, the work is intense and the chat is non-existent.

A mum friend – or, perhaps, even better, a mum group – can offer solace, advice and laughs. A well-timed message from a mum friend can inject some fun into an endless afternoon and having another adult to chat to at the playground can be a huge source of comfort.
