A statement read: 'We're constantly reviewing our portfolio of over 1,000 restaurants and at times, this sadly means we need to close some, while looking for opportunities to open new restaurants in other locations across the country. 'Since 2018 we have opened over 200 restaurants and right now, we're looking to open another 500 sites across the country over the next 15 years. 'However, we understand that any restaurant closure is disappointing, but our loyal fans can always find their next nearest restaurant on our website.' KFC is not the only fast-food chain to shut branches in recent months. McDonald's permanently shut a franchise branch in Dorset in September. Meanwhile, family favourite restaurant chain The Restaurant Group shut 23 stores in May this year . But it's not all bad news and some fast-food chains are expanding in the UK.
