 There's great news for EastEnders fans as the long-awaited return of Sam Mitchell is upon us. Spotted at Elstree studios, the home of Walford, acclaimed actress Kim Medcalf is back filming, Metro.co.uk understands. It is fairly unusual for soap fans to all be in agreement on something, but it seems unanimously considered that Kim's comeback as Sam was a real coup. So when she took a break from the show, it led to an instant countdown on when she would be back. Initially, it was thought by many that she would be back in time for the birth of her son Ricky's baby, but the wait has continued. But good things come to those who are patient. Filming schedules mean that Sam will likely be back on screen in autumn, and, with so many blockbuster stories planned at the show between now and the end of the year, Sam will be in the thick of the action. There are many threads to pick up, with Sam owing her son Ricky a mother's love after the year he has had. She also will find herself back in the turbulent family relationship with Phil, and have some catching up to do with good friend Zack. EastEnders is keeping the plots closely under wraps, but we already know of THAT Christmas Day murder, as well as a terrifying fire at the cafe.
