Luke Wright: T20 World Cup final win against Pakistan would trump 2010 glory

Watching England get through to the final brought back a lot of memories of that 2010 tournament. T20 was still relatively new then and we kind of won it out of nowhere. We got some momentum and had a settled side but winning a T20 World Cup then perhaps didn’t carry as much kudos as it does now.

If England win this one it will be huge, it will be them holding both white-ball cups at the same time and it will be celebrated hugely.

But that tournament was the start of something. It was the first time I’d played in an England shirt where we were given licence to play with freedom and we all had clear roles that we stuck with. It set
