Lucy Letby, 33, killed seven babies and tried to kill six others during a year long murder spree when she worked as a neonatal nurse at the Countess of Chester hospital
Lucy Letby made one heartbreaking decision, years before her horrific killing spree, that left her parents devastated.
The 33-year-old nurse learned earlier this week that she will die in prison. Letby was given a whole life order for the murder of seven babies and attempting to kill six more at the Countess of Chester Hospital, between June 2015 and 2016.
She is only the fourth woman to receive such a sentence but delivered one final blow to the families of her victims when she refused to turn up in court for her sentencing. Jonathan Letby, 77, and Susan Letby, 63, both attended every single day of their daughter’s ten-month trial before her conviction.
Jon, a furniture boss, and Susan, an accounts clerk, even relocated from their Hereford home to rent a flat closer to Manchester Crown Court. Like their daughter, they didn’t show up for the sentencing.
