‘Ruby’ was found darting between cars on a motorway 300 miles from where she was reported missing (Image: CornwallLive)A dog that was reported missing almost a decade ago was discovered darting around a busy motorway 300 miles from home at the weekend. The canine was found “running between cars” when a kind-hearted person was able to capture it and get it to the local vets. As of yet, the poor pup hasn’t been claimed. On arrival, it was discovered the dog, named Ruby on its microchip, was reported missing from Cornwall nearly a decade ago. Aside from the name, no further details were on the microchip that could help and it’s not known if she could have been missing the entire time or have a new owner.Pictured above, Ruby was found on the M11 at Harlow, Essex, on Saturday (October 22). Now people are trying to solve the mystery and get her back home, reports CornwallLive.Lauren Benge, who found the pet, said she managed to get the animal to Kew Vets in Essex where it was discovered she was chipped and reported missing in 2015 from Cornwall. No address or name was given on the chip, but the dog has a collar and appears well taken care of.Kew Vets called the number on the microchip which originally rang and went to voicemail. Staff left a message but now the number has been blocked or disconnected.”The dog is still with us now but today or tomorrow it will go to the dog warden,” the staff member said. The vets are hoping that someone will recognise the dog and have information that will lead to returning it home. The original missing dog post has received over 300 comments and 7,500 shares at the time of writing this.DogLost UK is also involved. A volunteer said: “We have been looking into this found dog situation and have been given details from the vets which have allowed us to cross reference missing/stolen dogs. Sadly, the details on the chip are not up to date, the phone numbers and the address are no longer working. This girl was/is called Ruby. She was chipped in 2013.”While there were no clear database matches DogLost UK said there is also a dog that was listed as missing from Southend in Essex that fits Ruby’s name and description in 2014. The dog was reported missing from Burnaby Road, Southend. The missing pet post also had a note on it saying the dog was still chipped to its old owners. DogLost UK said: “Any help in tracking down this girl’s owners would be gratefully received.”
