Although remake developer Dragami Games was founded by former Suda51 cohort Yoshimi Yasuda, who was executive producer on the original. The remake has a name now – Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP – and a rough release date, but there's still not been any footage and it remains unclear how much it will change or improve on the original. 'Although development of RePOP was carried out with the intention of a 2023 release, our commitment to providing the best possible quality experience to our players led us to making the hard decision to extend the development period in order to ensure this,' said Yasuda on Twitter, as translated by Gematsu. 'We sincerely apologise to all who had been waiting for the latest instalment in the Lollipop Chainsaw series, and kindly ask for your understanding in this matter.' Although it's not surprising to find that Gunn isn't involved, considering he's now in charge of the entire DC Comics cinematic (and video game) universe, he hasn't seemed to pleased that he was never approached about the remake, and only heard about it second-hand. At first it seems surprising that Suda51 isn't helping out, as it's one of his most commercially successful games, but his studio Grasshopper Manufacture currently has three unannounced projects in development, once of which is described as an action game on a larger scale than anything he's worked on before.
