Liverpool may sign fifth midfielder for Klopp as Reds still ‘monitoring’ Andre

Liverpool  have already signed four midfielders this summer but  Jurgen Klopp  may have his sights set on a fifth in January with the Reds reportedly monitoring Brazilian starlet Andre. The Premier League side were strongly linked with the Fluminense man during the summer and, according to reports, Klopp could be tempted to revisit a deal in the winter transfer window. The Brazilian side have indicated they are prepared to let Andre depart in the winter but only if his release clause is activated. Reports suggest that the clause inserted into the 22-year-old’s contract allows him to leave if a £34million bid is made. Liverpool embarked on a drastic overhaul of Klopp’s midfield in the summer, with the likes of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all departing on a free transfer. Fabinho and Jordan Henderson were later sold to Saudi Arabian outfits Al-Ittihad and Al-Ettifaq respectively. The quintet were replaced with four new signings – Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Endo Wataru and Ryan Gravenberch – as part of a £130m splurge. But Liverpool could now sign another midfielder after being alerted to Andre’s potential availability.  Liverpool have been linked with Fluminense starlet Andre (Image: Getty) According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano , Fluminense have ‘opened the door’ to a January exit. He claims that Liverpool are still ‘monitoring’ the player’s situation.  It comes after Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt opened up on discussions with Liverpool about Andre during the summer transfer window. Bittencourt revealed that he discussed a deal with Reds chief executive Billy Hogan, but told him the Brazilian Serie A side would not sell one of their best players at that time.  ‘There is an agreement between us, with the player and representative, that he would stay until the end of the year and they comply fully and with the utmost tranquillity,’ Bittencourt told ESPN .
