Liverpool make contact over Moises Caicedo transfer after Chelsea’s Romeo Lavia hijack

Chelsea have been pushing to sign Moises Caicedo, but that pursuit has now hit a bump, with Liverpool growing interested in the Brighton star as their move for Romeo Lavia stalls

Liverpool have made a late bid to hijack Chelsea’s move for Moises Caicedo, making contact with Brighton over a move for the midfielder.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has been pushing to sign the midfielder for much of the summer, having seen Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount all leave Stamford Bridge. But it appears his bid to bring in the Ecuadorian has hit a bump in the road.

The Reds face Pochettino’s side on Sunday in the opening game of the duo’s Premier League season. And it seems that Jurgen Klopp is eager to get one up on their opponents before kick-off at Stamford Bridge.

Mirror Football understands that Liverpool chiefs have made contact with Brighton over a deal for Caicedo. The Blues have already had a number of offers for the 21-year-old rejected by the Seagulls, who are holding firm on their £100million valuation.
