Liverpool confirm Jordan Henderson exit as former captain seals mega money Saudi transfer

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has completed his controversial move to Saudi Arabia and now links up with iconic former Red Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq following a hugely successful spell at Anfield

Jordan Henderson’s Liverpool exit has been made official as the midfielder completes a controversial move to Saudi side Al-Ettifaq.

The Reds have received £13m for their former captain’s services, with Henderson having put pen to paper on a three-year deal that will see him earn around £700k-per-week. The move brings to an end a hugely successful spell at Anfield for Henderson.

He originally joined in a £16m move from Sunderland back in the summer of 2011. Henderson has gone on to make 492 appearances for the club since, scoring 33 goals. The now 33-year-old has played a pivotal role in a hugely successful stint in the club’s history under current boss Jurgen Klopp. Henderson has a Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and a whole host of other medals to his name.

He was entrusted with the club captaincy in 2015 after Steven Gerrard’s departure from Anfield and will now be reunited with his former teammate in Saudi Arabia. Speaking after the move was confirmed, Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp said: “XXXX”
