Donald Trump could make a Twitter comeback as Elon Musk prepares to scrap permanent bans after his $44bn (£38bn) takeover of the social media company.

The Tesla billionaire wants to do away with bans because he doesn’t believe in lifelong prohibitions, Bloomberg reports.

That means people previously booted off the platform may be allowed to return, though it’s not clear whether that will include the former US president.

The move is one of a number of major changes set to be brought in by Mr Musk, who will assume the role of chief executive after completing the Twitter takeover last night.
