LIV Golf rebel Lee Westwood makes Rory McIlroy prediction after ninth year without a major

Rory McIlroy once again missed out on a fifth major title at last week’s Open Championship, but former Ryder Cup teammate Lee Westwood expects the drought to end soon

LIV Golf star Lee Westwood has given his verdict on Rory McIlroy’s chances of finally ending his wait for a fifth major title after another near miss at last week’s Open Championship.

McIlroy finished in a tie for sixth in the last major of the year at Hoylake, seven shots behind eventual champion Brian Harman. His performance at The Open continued his impressive form, with the Northern Irishman finishing in the top 10 in seven of his last eight major outings.

Whilst the form book looks good, McIlroy has still been left frustrated as he gets ready to enter his 10th season without a victory in golf’s four flag ship events, his last the 2014 PGA Championship at Kiawah Island.

With every passing major the pressure continues to grow on the world No. 2, but one man who believes the wait will come to an end soon is his former Ryder Cup teammate, turned LIV rival, Westwood. The Majesticks captain believes McIlroy still has his best years ahead of him, despite waiting so long to add to his major collection.
