Inter Miami megastar Lionel Messi showed his selfless side as he slipped in an unsung hero for his first goal for the Herons during a crucial encounter against MLS rivals LAFC
Lionel Messi may be known for his goals but he showed his eye for a killer pass as he provided a sublime assist for his new Inter Miami teammate.
The Argentine icon has helped to transform the fortunes of the Herons since joining earlier this summer, providing 11 goals in as many games. He may have failed to find the net in the 3-1 win over LAFC but he made a significant impact on proceedings, laying on two assists.
The first of these two assists on the night came in the form of an expertly-crafted through ball for ex-Camp Nou colleague Jordi Alba. Left in acres of space some forty yards from goal, Messi showed that he is always a threat by slipping the left-back through to score.
Leaving the opposition defenders ball-watching, the former Spain captain found himself with only the goalkeeper to beat – and did not disappoint. Sticking his shot low into the corner, the veteran full-back grabbed himself a rather strike and quickly turned to thank his teammate for his assist.
