The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has identified a fellow award-winner to join him at MLS giant Inter Miami, and the club’s co-owner David Beckham has already made contact
Lionel Messi believes that Inter Miami should add to its ever growing list superstars by signing Real Madrid icon Luka Modric in the next transfer window.
The Argentine is keen to see another Ballon d’Or winner join the ranks, with Modric having lifted the prestigious golden ball back in 2018. The Croatian won the award after a stellar season in which he helped guide his national side to the 2018 World Cup final, eventually losing to France in a 4-2 defeat.
The midfielder became the first player since Brazilian icon Kaka to claim the trophy following a decade of dominance between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who both had five wins apiece. Now former Real Madrid forward Pedja Mijatovic has claimed Messi is personally pushing for Modric to join him at Inter Miami.
The 54-year-old believes that Modric would be well suited to the league and claimed he has already spoken to the team’s co-owner David Beckham in an interview with Cadena SER.
