Toto Wolff has said he will sit down with Lewis Hamilton this winter to discuss a new deal for the Mercedes driver. The team principal also confirmed that the seat was “100 per cent” Hamilton’s if he wanted it.
Hamilton’s contract is due to expire at the end of the 2023 season, but the seven-times world champion clarified at this weekend’s Mexican Grand Prix that he intended to stay with the team. The 37-year-old said he wanted a “multi-year deal”.
Wolff said that while no talks had started yet, they would sit down together once this season – which, after Mexico, has only two races remaining, in Brazil and Abu Dhabi – was done.
