Lee Anderson in snap with Tory Party Conference ‘hero’ you’ve probably never heard of

Lee Anderson shares snap of the ‘hero’ of Tory conference you’ve probably never heard of Lee Anderson praised a “hero” who helped divert a “nuisance” at the Conservative Party conference this week. The Conservative deputy chairman took to social media to post a picture of a man he named “Brave Bruce”, he said had helped eject an unwanted guest from a conference event. Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, the MP and GB News presenter shared a snap of himself with Bruce. The two stood arm-in-arm with raised fists and beamed at the camera, with Mr Anderson seen sporting a glittering gold watch. In a brief caption, he said Bruce – whose second name was not shared – was responsible for “physically ejecting” pro-EU activist Steve Bray from an event he interrupted earlier this week. Mr Bray, who has earned a reputation as a dedicated anti-Brexit campaigner on the streets of Westminster – where he yells slogans using a loudspeaker – entered an event organised by the Bruges Group of Conservative MPs on October 2. He was heard shouting ‘where are your Brexit benefits?’ before being physically accosted by a man – now identified as Bruce – who wrestled him out of the room. Mr Anderson was due to speak at the fringe event but was not present and chose to celebrate Bruce in his post on X, where he tagged Mr Bray. He said: “Bruce is the hero that stopped the UK’s biggest nuisance @snb19692 from running amok at a conference event yesterday.” Steve Bray famously haunts Westminster as a dedicated anti-Brexit protester “Without any thought of his own safety, Brave Bruce stopped what could have been a nasty incident by physically ejecting Bray from the building. Luckily no one was hurt. Thanks Bruce.” While Bruce and Mr Anderson received widespread support online, several people called out the post. Commenter Paul O’Connor said: “He’s a ‘have a go d***head’. Never use violence.” Richard Gamlin added: “Bravery or vicarious thuggery?” Stephanie Hayden said: “You are an elected Member of Parliament and really should know better than to condone such behaviour. “Disagree with Mr Bray and his tactics by all means. Aggressive and violent behaviour has no place in our politics.” SUBSCRIBE Invalid email We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you.
