NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Lauren James turned in an incredible, record-breaking performance in England 6-1 win over China at the Women’s World Cup, but promises that she will continue to improve.
The 21-year-old scored twice and provided three assists as she became the first England player to be directly involved in five or more goals at a Women’s or Men’s World Cup.
It could have been even more as she had a brilliant strike controversially disallowed for offside by VAR just before half-time, denying her a hat-trick.
She described the decision as ‘a bit frustrating’ but will not be letting it bother her, with the Lionesses cruising into the last 16 where they will meet Nigeria, going into the knockout stages with three wins from three games and just one goal conceded.
