It must have felt inevitable to Lauren James that she would be for ever known as her brother’s little sister. After her stunning goal at the World Cup, the one decisive moment of brilliance in England’s 1-0 group-stage win against Denmark, just maybe Reece James will now, at least occasionally, be referred to as that player who is Lauren’s big brother.
It is impossible to analyse the 21-year-old’s career so far without reference to her sibling, who tweeted the word “proud” after the Denmark game, alongside a picture of them playing football as children.
