 Lando Norris has apologised for accidentally smashing Max Verstappen's trophy from the Hungarian Grand Prix. As the pair celebrated on the podium after last weekend's race, Norris performed his trademark celebration of slamming his champagne bottle on the top step of the podium to pop it. However, the impact of this caused Verstappen's winner's trophy to topple over onto the floor and smash into several pieces, with both drivers reacting with a hilarious mix of horror and laughter. Though the pair joked about the incident afterward, some in the Red Bull hierarchy were not as impressed nor were the makers of the trophy Herendi Porcelanmanufaktura, with the vase costing around £35,000 to make. Herendi's CEO Attila Simon confirmed earlier in the week that the team would be getting a new one, saying: 'The teams should work out who is to blame among themselves, but we take on the joyous and heavy burden of making it again.' That leaves the small matter of what to do with the broken trophy, with suggestions it could still be displayed at Red Bull's headquarters in Milton Keynes. 'I haven't spoken about that, I mean we are getting a new one. They are making a new one,' Verstappen said on Thursday ahead of this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix. 'So I honestly don't know what's happening to the broken one. Maybe I can send it to Lando!' Norris for his part, sincerely said sorry to Herendi and Red Bull for any offence caused, saying: 'I do want to apologise for it. I obviously had no intention of doing such a thing. 'I know how much it means to the Hungarians. It is part of their culture and so forth. I enjoyed the time but it was never my intention to do such a thing. 'I did apologise to Max.
