One of London’s biggest office landlords is letting space at a near-record pace as demand for modern, environmentally friendly buildings booms.
Derwent, which owns more than £5 billion of offices in central London, has signed £26.3 million of new leases so far this year. Among those tenants are Moelis, the investment bank, and Tide, the technology company.
Paul Williams, the Derwent chief executive, said that only on one occasion, in 2017, had the company agreed more leases before the end of August. “Occupiers want good, green, net-zero carbon buildings,” Williams, 63, said. “They also want them to be amenity-rich and in good locations . . . and they’re happy to pay very good rents for that.”
