Lady Louise Windsor buys popular second hand car after passing driving test

Lady Louise Windsor purchased a second-hand car to pass her driving test in a modest display from the Royal. The King’s niece opted for a popular Volkswagen Polo for her first motor, buying the model after saving up the cash from her summer job. The 19-year-old is understood to have used some of the money earned at her £6.83 per hour garden centre role. Her income was then put towards the Polo with her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, coughing up the rest. According to The Sun , Lady Louise wanted to take up a summer job to secure her first-ever car. But, it is believed Lady Louise has since gone on to pass her driving test and got behind the wheel for a solo drive last week. She was snapped heading to the Marathon Section of the Carriage Trials at Windsor last Sunday in her vehicle. Looking calm behind the wheel, the royal was seen adjusting her sun visor and checking out her rearview mirror. She also drove back to her home in Bagshot Park, Surrey after the event had finished. It is likely she will also use the vehicle to travel to Scotland where she is studying English at the University of St Andrews. She was accepted into the high-profile university after passing her A Level exams at St Mary’s School in Ascot. The Polo is considered one of the most popular cars in the UK with thousands opting for the model every year. Back in 2019, the Polo was among the best sellers on the market according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). AutoExpress reveals that similar models can fetch for up to £31,000 brand new. Motoring experts at Parkers say the base Polo has around 78bhp and can reach 0-60mph in 14.9 seconds. With a top speed of around just 116mph, it is definitely an ideal fit for a first-time driver.
