Labour storm ahead with HUGE 17-point lead over Tories after record by-election win

The latest polling reveals Keir Starmer’s party would rake in 42% of the vote if a general election was held tomorrow, with the Conservatives having fallen three points to just 25%

Labour are storming ahead with a 17-point lead over the Tories in the polls after a record-busting by-election win last week.

Keir Starmer’s party would rake in 42% of the vote if a general election was held tomorrow, with the Conservatives having fallen three points to just 25%.

Rishi Sunak is facing his poorest performance in the polls since the tenure of shamed ex-PM Liz Truss, who crashed the economy and lasted only 49 days in No10.

The Lib Dems are up two points to 11%, while the Greens’ showing has not changed at 6%. Meanwhile Nigel Farage’s right-wing Reform UK is also up two points to 10%, according to the Opinium poll for the Observer.
