Kylian Mbappe’s comments on future speak volumes amid Arsenal and Liverpool interest

Kylian Mbappe linked with Real Madrid move Kylian Mbappe’s recent comments suggest that he won’t be committing his future to Paris Saint Germain – adding more fuel to the fire he could leave the Ligue 1 side. The Frenchman is currently out on holiday in Cameroon and was asked by reporters where he would be playing next season. The 24-year-old replied with an elusive, tongue-in-cheek answer in the third person: ‘Kylian is in Cameroon for the time being, and that’s the most important thing. I want to make the most of my stay, get the most out of my holidays. I want to enjoy being with the people of Cameroon, that’s my only concern.’ Mbappe recently sent a letter to PSG stating that he had no intention of extending his contract by a further year, which expires in 2024 but it is presently unclear whether he will see out his stay at Princes Park or move elsewhere this summer. The French giants have since sent a three-page letter to their striker accusing him of unsettling the dressing room and have given him a deadline of July 31 to make a decision about his future. French media report that PSG’s letter accuses Mbappe of causing ‘enormous harm’ to the club following the ‘leaking’ of his own letter, sent to the club on June 23. Kylian Mbappe is out in Cameroon on holiday PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi stance remains clear on the matter. He said: “My position is very clear. I don’t want to repeat it every time: if Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he has to sign a new contract. We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free. We can’t do that.” “It’s a French club. He said he would never leave for free. If he changes his mind today, it’s not my fault. We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free. That’s very clear. I think you got what you wanted.” SUBSCRIBE Invalid email We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. But according to the Independent, if Mbappe is going to move to the Premier League then his ‘preference’ would be to join Arsenal. Mikel Arteta is said to be a great admirer of the player but it is unlikely he will be able to put up the funds to sign the Frenchman after already dropping £204m on the signings of Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice this summer.
