Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain have agreed a deal to ensure the French champions are financially compensated when the forward leaves the club.
The verbal agreement follows a series of conversations between Mbappe and the PSG president, Nasser al-Khelaifi, and may ultimately result in the 24-year-old signing a new long-term contract with the Qatar-owned club.
The complex compromise – elements of which are understood to have been proposed by the France captain himself – provides PSG with partial compensation for the approximate £150 million cost of the final year of Mbappe’s present two-season contract. Discussions have begun on either a one or multi-year extension of that deal, with PSG offering to include a “guaranteed sale clause” in the revised terms.
