King urged to revoke Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles ‘without delay’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should be stripped of their royal titles, a new poll of Express.co.uk readers has found. King Charles III reportedly could make the move in retaliation for the Duke of Sussex’s upcoming memoir Spare, due to be published on January 10, 2023. The highly-anticipated book is due to explore Harry’s time in the Royal Family and detail his journey from ‘trauma to healing’ with ‘raw unflinching honesty’, according to publisher Penguin Random House.Royal Family enthusiast Nile Gardiner warned that the couple could lose their royal titles if the publication attacks the Firm. He told Express.co.uk: ‘Buckingham Palace will be very concerned by the release of Harry’s book. There is a lot of nervousness about it.’He claimed that the memoir could do a ‘great deal of damage’ and have a ‘catastrophic’ impact on the couple’s standing, warning that ‘Harry and Meghan will be cast into wilderness and lose their royal titles if this is an all-out onslaught against the Royal Family.”Similarly, royal commentator Tom Bower told The Sun last weekend: ‘This book is really make or break. I imagine that King Charles has been warned that any retaliation won’t be pretty.’He added: ‘All that King Charles can really do is to withhold the titles for his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet. Ultimately, I suppose, he could take away Harry and Meghan’s titles as well, but that’s pretty drastic. I don’t know what else he can do. If it is as bad as I think it is, then Harry and Meghan have gone fully rogue. The best the family can do is to break ties with them.’READ MORE: Harry and Meghan told they could ‘lose titles’ if book attacks royals Harry’s memoir Spare is due to be published on January 10, 2023 (Image: Getty) Some 97 percent voted in favour of King removing Harry and Meghan’s royal titles (Image: EXPRESS.CO.UK/Flourish)In a poll that ran from 9:30am on Monday, October 31, to 11am on Wednesday, November 2, Express.co.uk asked readers: ‘Should King Charles strip Meghan and Harry of royal titles?’Overall, 23,003 people responded with the overwhelming answer with 97 percent (22,328 people) of votes being ‘yes’, the King should strip Meghan and Harry of their royal titles.Whereas three percent (589 people) said ‘no’ he should not, while a further 86 people said they did not know.  Hundreds of comments were left below the accompanying article as readers shared their thoughts on the future of the couple’s titles. The majority of readers commented in favour of Harry and Meghan losing their titles, with username chorlton13 writing that it should be done ‘without question or delay’.Username Elite said: ‘Absolutely they should have their titles removed.’Username Cynical Old Possum! wrote: ‘Yes.
