Charles, who celebrated his 74th birthday on November 14, became King on September 8. Speaking on Australia’s Sunrise, royal author, Catherine Mayer, author of the renewed version of Charles: The Heart of King, discussed the longest-reigning heir to the throne, claiming that despite his extensive period of time in the royal spotlight, Charles is often “misunderstood” as a senior royal.Speaking of her new book, which was originally released in 2015, Ms Mayer said: “I think one of the things that surprised me was his very lonely existence.”[When] you think of somebody like that, who lives in Palaces [and] always surrounded by people as being somebody with a lot of connections [and] a lot of social life, if you like.”You always see him in course of duties, and in fact, it’s a very isolating existence.”She added: “He’s also a lot funnier than you think, mostly intentionally, not always.”READ MORE: King Charles snubs Harry and Andrew as he hands out top royal roles to Edward and Anne Charles turned 74 on November 14 (Image: PA) King Charles was joined by wife Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales (Image: GETTY)She continued: “He’s created his own philosophy over the years.”That is a lot stranger and more interesting than you might expect.”I think, in many ways, the most surprising thing about him is that this is a man who’s been in the public eye for all of these decades and yet he remains surprisingly unknown and misunderstood.”On September 8, 2022, Charles, then aged 73, became the oldest person to accede to the British throne.READ MORE: Prince William ‘finds The Crown damaging to Royal Family’ as it gets closer to modern daysOn November 13, King Charles laid a wreath as he attended the Remembrance Sunday ceremony at The Cenotaph on Whitehall.A national two-minute silence was held at 11am, marked by the tolling of Big Ben.This marked the first time that Charles, who is the head of the British Armed Forces, lead Britain for Remembrance Sunday as the reigning monarch.DON’T MISSPrince Harry tells military children they are ‘not alone’ [REPORT]     Prince Harry’s attack on privilege ‘might not land sympathetically’ [REPORT]   Harry ‘at odds’ with Netflix as Sussexes want cuts made to docuseries [REPORT] Charles has been King since September (Image: PA)
