King Charles expands Counsellors of State list

‘Plot twist!’ Harry and Andrew spared humiliation as King to ‘expand’ Councillors of State (Image: GETTY)Royal sources have revealed that King Charles III does not plan to reshuffle the Royal Family and sideline Prince Harry or Prince Andrew. Russell Myers, the royal editor at the Daily Mirror, said Charles has plans to “expand” the Counsellors of State list. Posting on Twitter, he said: “I am told the King will now ‘expand’ the Counsellors of State list, thereby sparing Prince Harry and Prince Andrew’s blushes.”Royal sources suggest the additions are likely to be Princess Anne, Prince Edward, the Princess of Wales – so no-one will be removed.”The Counsellors of State list includes a host of high-profile royals who can act in the sovereign’s place if they cannot carry out their duties. At present, there are three existing Counsellors serving under King Charles. They include William, the Prince of Wales, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex and Prince Andrew, the Duke of York. Charles also once served as a Counsellor of State under the late Queen Elizabeth II, meaning the list is one royal shorter. Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Kate, the Princess of Wales, will bring the list up to five new members.
