Kim Jong-un and Sergei Shoigu, the Russian defence minister, have met in Pongyang and toured a weapons exhibition as North Korea marks the 70th anniversary of the armistice of the Korean War.
The north’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said Kim and Shoigu spoke on Wednesday in the capital and reached a consensus on unspecified “matters of mutual concern in the field of national defence and security”.
During the meeting, Shoigu conveyed to Kim a “warm and good letter” signed by President Putin, KCNA said.
The pair also attended a weaponry exhibition that showcased some of North Korea’s newest weapons, the report said. Photos from the exhibition showed Kim and Shoigu walking near a row of large missiles mounted on launcher trucks.
