 A KFC restaurant has hired security guards to stop children going in without an adult. Anyone suspected of being under the age of 18 will be ID'd at the door following a spate of anti-social trouble in Sittingbourne, Kent. A spokesperson said the Colonel would not be 'proud' of the recent behaviour from some of his guests and, for the time being, unsupervised children won't be allowed in after 6pm. An unnamed worker at the restaurant told Kent Online they had to have security as 'there are problems with the kids'. But customers are far from happy with the new arrangements, which are not in place at the McDonald's over the road. Kayleigh Trimmings, 34, took her 17-year-old son Tyler to the KFC for a treat over the weekend when she saw the guard check his age. He was only let in when the man realised he was with his mum. 'Since when did people get ID'd for a franchise?' the mum-of-five said. 'McDonald's next door wasn't doing it. I think it's disgusting. It's stopping kids from getting their food or weekend treat. 'I know there is anti-social behaviour in the town, but it isn't all youngsters.' A KFC Spokesperson said: 'Safety has always been our top priority and we simply do not tolerate any violence towards our guests or team members. 'Our Sittingbourne restaurant has seen some recent behaviour from guests that the Colonel wouldn't be proud of and so for the time being any under 18's visiting after 6pm must be accompanied by an adult.' Businesses across the UK have ramped up security measures over the summer. The Glades shopping centre in Bromley, south-east London, banned unsupervised children with the support of the Met Police.
