Kanye West song axed by Bournemouth as Premier League side take action

Bournemouth will no longer play the Kanye West song ‘Power’ when they walk out for matches after the American rapper made a series of anti-semitic comments on social media. The Premier League club have followed the likes of Adidas in cutting ties with the 45-year-old while he has also been dropped by his agency. The rapper, who legally changed his name to Ye in 2018, has been widely criticised in recent weeks for making a range of anti-semitic comments on TV and social media. The comments had followed a highly controversial stunt at the Paris fashion show where he had turned up to the event wearing a ‘White Lives Matter’ t-shirt while promoting his Yeezy brand. Adidas have now cut ties with the American, discontinuing their partnership to sell his Yeezy range with immediate effect. Other brands and organisations have also distanced themselves. He has been dropped by his agents CAA, while Foot Locker, Gap, TJ Maxx, JPMorgan Chase bank and Vogue magazine have all said they will not work with him again. The rapper has claimed that those business decisions cost him over £2billion in the space of one day. JUST IN: Hargreaves names Man Utd’s ‘perfect attacker’ who can score 250 goals Bournemouth will no longer walk out to the Kanye West song ‘Power’ (Image: GETTY)Now, Bournemouth have become the latest organisation to follow suit and their players will no longer walk out to his song ‘Power’ after a decision taken by club officials on Thursday. The south-coast side have played the song at the start of matches for a number of years and it is not yet known what will replace it during Saturday’s match with Tottenham at the Vitality. The new walk out song will be one of many talking points for the fixture as the Cherries face a Spurs side who have suffered a dramatic loss of form over the week. Defeats to Manchester United and Newcastle have meant the club have lost ground on Premier League leaders Arsenal and Manchester City. READ MOREChelsea suffer blow in £43m bid to replace Reece James in January transfer windowArsenal boss Mikel Arteta brutally honest after PSV loss as he demands Gunners ‘reset’Arsenal’s Pablo Mari breaks silence after being stabbed in attack which left one dead Bournemouth will play a new walkout song during the weekend’s Premier League fixture with Tottenham (Image: GETTY)Things were not much better during the controversial 1-1 draw with Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Wednesday. The club had been behind for most of the match and struggled to have any effect on the game before rallying late on, equalising through Rodrigo Bentancur. Harry Kane thought he had scored the winner with the last kick of the ball, sending the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into raptures but it was disallowed for offside. Antonio Conte was sent off for his reaction to the decision and stormed out of his post-match press conference after one question. All eyes will be on the Italian’s general demeanour during the weekend’s fixture as he desperately hunts to turn his team’s fortunes around. However, before any match action gets underway the focus will be on the new song that Bournemouth decide to walk out to after their decision to stand in solidarity with the Jewish community over Ye’s comments.WIN A FREE ENGLAND SHIRT FOR THE WORLD CUP! Want the latest Premier League news as we publish it on Express Sport?
