Patrick Mahomes has come out and defended Kadarius Toney after the receiver struggled on the opening night of the NFL season, but the receiver has still deleted Twitter
Reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs lost their home opener on Thursday against the Detroit Lions, and wide receiver Kadarius Toney had a game to forget.
One of the heroes from Super Bowl LVII seven months ago couldn’t settle at Arrowhead Stadium and dropped passes from quarterback Patrick Mahomes all night. Without tight end Travis Kelce, the Chiefs looked incredibly weak offensively as nerves appeared to spread throughout their offensive line.
The Chiefs lost 21-20 to the Lions, as Mahomes is still yet to beat fellow quarterback Jared Goff out on the field. But things could have been a lot different if his receivers were on the same page. Skyy Moore also had a bad night, but fans turned on Toney with the Chiefs Kingdom expecting a breakthrough year for the 24-year-old.
Compilations were posted of Toney’s performance, and it was one of his dropped catches that led to a pick-6 as Brian Branch took advantage for the Lions. The ridicule was too much for the receiver and he deleted his Twitter/X account after the game.
