Jurgen Klopp sends Mohamed Salah firm reminder after he threw tantrum in Chelsea draw

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was visibly frustrated after being substituted off in the second half of his side’s Premier League opening day draw against Chelsea

Jurgen Klopp has reminded Mohamed Salah to respect his decisions as Liverpool manager after the Egyptian’s furious reaction to being substituted against Chelsea on Sunday.

Reds forward Salah was taken off in the 77th minute of the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, and after throwing his hands into the air and shaking his head angrily he proceeded to trudge towards the touchline and peel the tape from his wrists before throwing it to the ground, much to the delight of the home supporters.

Salah had enjoyed a lightning-fast start to the match, providing a glorious assist for Luis Diaz to open the scoring before finding the net himself – only to see his effort ruled out by a marginal offside call following a VAR intervention.

However, his influence faded in the second half as Liverpool struggled to create goal-scoring opportunities. His substituted off ended off his fine opening day record in the Premier League – he has scored on that matchday in each of his previous six seasons at Liverpool and is tied with Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard for most goals scored on opening day.
