Jurgen Klopp hits out at FA after Darwin Nunez nets Southampton double

Liverpool defeated Southampton 3-1 at Anfield in their final Premier League match before the World Cup, as Darwin Nunez bagged two goals for Jurgen Klopp’s men after Roberto Firmino opened the scoring

Liverpool ended the first part of their Premier League season on a high with a rousing 3-1 victory over Southampton.

The Reds earned all three points in their last match before the World Cup thanks to a Darwin Nunez double, with Roberto Firmino having given Jurgen Klopp’s men a lead in the sixth minute. Che Adams soon equalised for Nathan Jones’ Saints side, but Nunez came to the rescue with two goals before the break in a first-half goal-fest.

It ended a productive and eventful week at Liverpool, whose owners, Fenway Sports Group, announced that they were putting the club up for sale on Monday. Two days later, the Reds found a way through to the EFL Cup fourth round by beating Derby County on penalties, and Klopp’s men now head to either Qatar or on their holidays off the back of a win.

Here’s a round-up of the latest news from Anfield.
