The food blogger and bestselling author who inspired a biopic starring Amy Adams and Meryl Streep has died at the age of 49.
Julie Powell, from New York, famously chronicled a year of cooking her way through the recipes in Julia Child’s culinary classic, Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Powell’s book, Julie and Julia, published in 2005, was turned into a Hollywood film, also starring Stanley Tucci, four years later.
Powell’s husband, Eric Powell, told The New York Times that she died of a cardiac arrest at their home in Olivebridge in upstate New York.
