Julia Bradbury is living life ‘at a slower pace’ since undergoing a mastectomy last year to remove a 6cm tumour from her breast. The presenter, who is known for her outdoor programmes including Countryfile , revealed she is currently taking a break from broadcasting and is instead focusing on writing books aimed at the wellness space. The star has just released her anticipated book Walk Yourself Happy: Find Your Path To Health and Healing In Nature which details how spending time outdoors can be a powerful tool for both health and recovery. Speaking on her career plan going forwards, Julia told Express.co.uk : ‘I’m going to take things at a slower pace. One project a year is for me enough. ‘Now I’ve still got young children, I’m very focused on being present and being here for them. And, you know, I need to allow my body recovery time. ‘And whilst I want to stay as fit as possible, and do as much walking as possible, I don’t want to overdo things as well,’ she added. The TV host has been supported during her recovery from cancer by her children Zeph, 13, and twins Zena and Xanthe, eight, as well as her husband Gerard Cunningham. However, despite a brief pause from TV screens, Julia has teased her come back with a brand new series set to air ‘soon on Channel 4’. She shared: ‘I’ve finished a series in Ireland, so that’s exciting. And the book is coming out very soon. ‘This is my first book in the health and wellness space. And I’m very excited about this. And I hope that this is a pivot into more in this space because it’s fascinating.’ The 52-year-old Countryfile host was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2021 and underwent a single mastectomy. The presenter learned of her diagnosis after having a mammogram in July 2021, a year after finding a lump that proved to be a cluster of benign micro-cysts. You know I’ve gone clean with my laundry powder, but laundry powder with all those fragrances…air fresheners in cars, are full of toxins that you are sniffing up your nose breathing in. ‘Perfumes are allowed to not declare what’s in the perfume. What’s in the scent for industry trade secret reasons. There could be two or three chemicals that are creating that smell. And there could be plastic in your perfume, and you’re spraying it onto your skin into the sensitive parts of your skin every single day. ‘The long-term effects of these kinds of things like makeup, dirty makeup, soaps, shampoos, and water that comes from plastic water bottles is terrible.’
