Sam Jones has urged Anthony Joshua to sack either Angel Fernandez or Robert Garcia ahead of his comeback. The Probellum chief believes there should be ‘one cook in the kitchen’ when he returns to the ring in early 2023.After his first loss to Oleksandr Usyk in September 2021, Joshua axed long-time mentor Robert McCracken and replaced him with former assistant coach Angel Fernandez and new acquisition Robert Garcia. Both men headed up AJ’s camp for the rematch and shared the main responsibilities.Joshua previously blamed there being ‘too many voices’ in his corner for some of his downfall during the first encounter but now finds himself in a similar dilemma with no clear head trainer. Jones has raised his concerns surrounding the situation in an interview with Seconds Out.’I have no idea Danny [Flexen], I have no idea. I’ve met Angel Fernandez a few times, I don’t know him personally. I’ve actually had dinner with him years ago when Linares was over in London,’ he said. Anthony Joshua has been advised to choose between Angel Fernandez and Robert Garcia (Image: GETTY)’He’s a good guy and he’s done well for himself and Joshua, who is not a stupid man, must see something really good in him but don’t employ [Robert] Garcia to train you if you’ve got this man training you. If you don’t trust Angel Fernandez, get rid of Angel Fernandez, train with Garcia. If you don’t trust Garcia, train with Angel Fernandez. One cook in the kitchen for me, Danny.’Joshua is expected to have ‘two quick fights’ against ‘credible top 15 opponents’ next year. Eddie Hearn is targeting January or February with Dillian Whyte understood to be the current ‘frontrunner’.MORE BOXING NEWS…Fury and Joshua teams accused of ‘kicking fans in the balls’Chisora explains Joshua role in helping him spring upset on FuryJoshua left red-faced as Usyk plans before their fight come to light Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Anthony Joshua will return in early 2023 (Image: GETTY)Whyte faces Jermaine Franklin on November 26 at Wembley Arena in his first fight since his knockout loss to Tyson Fury six months ago.
