Joe Burrow is the highest-paid player in NFL history after signing a mega contract extension with the Cincinnati Bengals, with head coach Zac Taylor and president Mike Brown heaping praise on him
Joe Burrow celebrated becoming the highest-paid player in NFL history for “about five minutes” before focusing on the Cincinnati Bengals’ 2023 season.
On Thursday night, Burrow became the league’s highest-paid player as he inked a five-year contract extension worth $275 million with $219.01 million guaranteed. Over the last few seasons, the Bengals have enjoyed the luxury of building a roster around the quarterback and earning postseason success while the 2020 first-overall pick has been on his rookie deal.
Burrow has emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL since arriving from LSU. He has led the Bengals to the AFC Championship over the last two years, and reached Super Bowl LVI where Cincinnati fell to the Los Angeles Rams.
After receiving his deal, which became official on Saturday, Burrow spoke to reporters and addressed how he celebrated the landmark contract. His answer epitomises his incredible mentality as he hopes to lead the Bengals back to the postseason.
