Joe Burrow injury update as Cincinnati Bengals quarterback speaks out ahead of Week 1

Joe Burrow has confirmed his stance ahead of Week One of the 2023 NFL regular season for the Cincinnati Bengals after recovering from a calf strain he sustained during practice in July

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow says he expects to play in the Week One game of the new NFL season.

Burrow has been sidelined for the past few weeks with a calf injury he sustained during practice on July 27. The QB was carted off the field and assessed by the Bengals medical staff after falling to the floor following a play.

It was later confirmed that Burrow had suffered a calf strain and would need “several weeks” to be able to recover. With it now being more than six weeks since Burrow sustained the injury, he has gradually been working his way back to full fitness.

Burrow did not play in any of the Bengals’ pre-season games through August. Jake Browning is expected to serve as back-up this season, with former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Will Grier recently signed to the practice squad.
