Jeremy Hunt will announce billions of pounds of tax rises and public service cuts just weeks after being appointed as Chancellor following Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng’s disastrous mini-budget

Jeremy Hunt will tomorrow unleash a fresh wave of Tory austerity as he tries to undo the damage done by Liz Truss’s disastrous spell in office.

The Chancellor warned “we’re all going to be paying a bit more tax,” when he unveils his Autumn Statement Budget.

He also said he will be a “Scrooge” making “horrible decisions” in the run-up to Christmas..

The former Health Secretary, who has previously made two attempts to become Tory leader, is expected to confirm about £21bn of tax rises and £33bn of public spending cuts a year by 2027/28.
