Jay Blades addresses claim he broke royal protocol with King Charles

Jay Blades was visited by King Charles III, 73, at The Repair Shop earlier this year, before his accession to the throne, after initially turning him down due to his busy schedule. After finally mananging to fit the new monarch in, the special episode aired on Wedneday leaving many fans wanting to know more after their meeting.In a Q&A after the show, Jay, 52, responded to a fan who questioned whether or not he broke royal protocol by touching the then Prince. The furniture restorer was seen placing his hand on Charles’ arm as he handed him over a cup of tea. Addressing the moment on Instagram, he said: “It is against royal protocol but also when you’re from the East End, you have a different type of protocol.”So, the two protocols came together and he was cool with it and I was cool with it.
