Jane McDonald admits ‘dad would have loved it’ as she reflects on family loss

Jane McDonald made an emotional admission about her father Peter, who died in 1993. During her series, Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan, the former cruise ship singer took a moment to think about her late father. As she was exploring what the city had to offer, Jane told viewers; “Dad would have loved that fact”. The TV star was looking at some of Japan’s most famous temples as she explained the history of the buildings to viewers. “Another day, another chance to discover something new,” Jane began. Jane McDonald reflected on her family loss when chatting about her dad (Image: Channel 5) “I’ve learned that Kyoto escaped heavy bombing during the war. So there are a wealth of ancient temples still standing here. “In Kyoto, there’s lots and lots of temples. In fact, there are 1,600 of them.” As Jane stood by one of the temples, continued: “This one is the most famous, the Kiyomizudera. “The Kiyomizudera Complex was built in 1633 and is one of Japan’s most celebrated temples. Jane McDonald explored what Japan had to offer (Image: Channel 5) “Set in the stunning green hills overlooking Kyoto. Amazingly, this entire wooden temple was built without a single nail.” “My dad would have loved that face,” the presenter added as she reflected on her family loss. Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan returns next Friday at 9pm on Channel 5.
