Jamie Carragher dubs Liverpool and Man Utd target Silva ‘a superstar’

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has heaped praise on Benfica defender Antonio Silva following his goal and impressive performance in the Champions League as the Portuguese side defeated Juventus 4-3 on Tuesday. The 18-year-old has been a key figure in the backline of the Primeira Liga side this season, prompting interest from several teams across Europe. Both Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the teenage defender, but have been warned that Benfica’s asking price could be as high as £78million. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that his current club are ‘convinced’ that he will be worth the high fee in the future.’Remember the name: Antonio Silva,’ Romano told CaughtOffside. ‘He’s a top player for the future, of course he needs some time to improve his skills but Benfica are convinced he will be worth £70-78m in the future.’I’ve seen some reports of Liverpool and Manchester United looking at him. For sure, top clubs are following him but it’s important to say that there’s still nothing serious or concrete, as of now. He is still developing as a player, but let’s see where he is in a few years, the future looks bright for him.’JUST IN: Chelsea have easy decision to make as Mateo Kovacic repeats antics Jamie Carragher has called Antonio Silva a potential superstar. I have highlighted a couple of weeks ago, I told you all about him, and there he is, Antonio Silva,’ Carragher told CBS Sports. ‘I mentioned his defensive prowess. But goalscoring there as well.
