James White, ‘godfather’ of Scotland’s biggest crime gang, jailed for nearly 10 years

The new “godfather” of a drug cartel which was the most powerful and sophisticated ever seen in Scotland has been jailed for almost ten years.

James White, nicknamed The Don and said to be “rich enough to buy out Rolex”, appeared for sentencing at the High Court in Stirling by videolink from prison after being arrested in Brazil, where he had fled in an attempt to escape justice.

White, 46, from Gartcosh, Lanarkshire, was a senior member of the crime group led by the brothers James and Barry Gillespie.
