A young Kurdish man has been left brain dead after being shot in the head by security forces near the grave of Mahsa Amini in Iran, a year after her death in morality police custody.
Fardin Jafari, 27, was admitted to hospital after sustaining a head injury from a gunshot fired at the Aichi cemetery, Amini’s final resting place in the Kurdish city of Saqqez.
The local authorities had deployed armed forces to the cemetery in an attempt to deter memorials and protests commemorating Amini’s death, which served as the catalyst for the country’s “woman, life, freedom” movement.
According to the Iran Wire news website, Jafari has been declared brain dead, and doctors at Shafa Hospital in Saqqez have decided to disconnect him from
